The new Infosec.exchange minio storage server (AMD7950/128GB DDR5, 2x2TB, 2x7TB enterprise nvme ssds, 10Gpbs network) is up and I’ve kicked off the multi-day process to replicate the storage bucket from Backblaze. Soon, I hope the random file upload errors will be a thing of the past.
@jerry maybe I just don't understand the architecture (scratch that, I KNOW I don't understand the architecture), but I'm surprised having storage hosted by an external provider like Backblaze is even economical. Wouldn't the data transit costs between Hertzner and Backblaze be ridiculous?
@DaveMWilburn its a fair bit cheaper than the new server, but the performance is very inconsistent. They don’t charge for ingress/uploads and with the CDN, the files only get downloaded once and then cached at the edge nodes of our CDN around the world.
@DaveMWilburn @jerry Backblaze egress is free as long as you don't go over 3x storage, and after that it's still cheap, they have a ridiculously good offering compared to the other options. [Side Eye] Wasabi.
