@caseyliss@siracusa@marcoarment I very much agree with everything you said I the previous show. The killing of civilians should never be tolerated, no matter what historical, political or religious right you claim to have for doing so.
@caseyliss@siracusa@marcoarment Also, righteously seizing people’s land and property and systematically oppressing an entire population over decades is super wrong, no matter what.
@caseyliss@siracusa@marcoarment Obviously not trying to justify any of the recent events. Just saying it’s important to be able to keep two thoughts in your head at the same time and that things don’t happen in a vacuum. I know you know this but would have been nice to also express it, if you choose to speak on the subject at all.
@jonc I tried to clarify some of this in a bit that didn’t make the final edit, but it was removed because I did such a bad job of it. Sorry about that. But know that when we said “civilians” we meant all civilians, regardless of where they live.
@siracusa Thanks for the reply. I totally understand that it’s a complete minefield to express a somewhat balanced opinion on this matter, especially in the country were you all live.
@siracusa Thanks for the clarification and I did think that’s what you guys meant by that. No lectures from me as there are far better sources. Just two things I’ll add with great love and respect for team ATP: 1) Gaza is a prison of 2 million people. In this context the question isn’t what’s justifiable but rather what is inevitable. 2) Highly recommend The Hundred Years’ War in Palestine by Rashid Khalidi. The podcast American Prestige did a 6-part series with him that may still be unlocked.
