George Santos threatened to resign from his seat in Congress if there is a deal with the Democrats to elect a Speaker.

In political terms, that’s called a win-win!

@georgetakei I dare him! I double-dog dare him! He can't ignore that! πŸ˜†
@georgetakei I think he meant to say "offered" to resign
@georgetakei Mr. Santos has apparently never read "The Ransom of Red Chief" or seen "Ruthless People."
Santos Faces New Charges Accusing Him of Lies and Credit Card Fraud

Mr. Santos, a first-term Republican congressman, was charged in an indictment that added 10 new felony counts to the existing charges.

The New York Times
@georgetakei because he knows he will be expelled with a Dem deal. Resigning means he can spin it as "principle."
@georgetakei I'd buy that for a dollar.
@georgetakei Being that we *all* know he has no intention of leaving office short of being hauled away in handcuffs, this should be taken as nothing more than a scam intended to lure Dems into agreeing to vote for Jordan in exchange for "concessions" that will never materialize. Which is a thing they should absolutely the fuck NOT do, especially considering Jordan's ties to He Who Shall Not Be Named (except in indictments).
@georgetakei this just shows how totally stupid he is. Then again we know he’s a liar, so probably doesn’t mean anything.

@georgetakei

Don't threaten me with a good time.

@georgetakei I thought he got booted? WTF is he still in office
@georgetakei
the amazing part is that he somehow thinks that will make it LESS likely!

@georgetakei

Santos is actually saying: "Promise not to expel me and I'll vote for Jeffries."

@georgetakei
Such a neural disconnect between his actions and the consequences of his actions, no matter how much he doubles down must represent some state of nirvana for these people.

A bit like a hog on a hot day finding a chocolate milkshake to sit on...

@georgetakei the irony is there are likely quite a few republicans who would think the political fall out from conferencing with Dems would be worth it if it meant getting rid of Santos 🀣
No. Please. Not in the briar patch.
@georgetakei In the words of Kevin McCarthy, β€œBring it on”!
@georgetakei Threats usually have negative connotations, but not in this case. If Santos is truly threatening to leave, I need to know where I sign up to help him get all the confusing paperwork correctly completed so his exit can be smooth and without interruptions.
@georgetakei That's way too good to be true. He should do it, but he won't.

@georgetakei "George Santos threatened to resign from his seat in Congress"

Don't threaten me with a good time, Santos.

@georgetakei I β€˜love’ the way he thinks this is leverage. Such arrogance.

@georgetakei The Democrats aren't going to deal. They did that twice when McCarthy was Speaker and they got burned both times.

They'll hold the line for Jeffries while the media keep digging into the backstory of corruption in the GOP that the Republican election committees are trying desperately to hide.

@georgetakei @ppatel Remember he just said it… Coming from him it really doesn’t mean anything substantial!

@georgetakei

> that’s called a win-win!

The GOP's best hope of holding that seat is santos quitting early enough to cause a special election to replace him. The GOP has an edge in low-turnout special elections, and if they win they'd then have incumbency advantage in the general.

But georgie-boy ain't going anywhere. He's broke, and he needs to be able to offer up his resignation in a plea deal.

@georgetakei Oh I’m sure he’s sincere about that.
@ppatel @georgetakei that would be great. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak and get one corrupt idiot out of Congress in the process.

@georgetakei

I have $10 that says he will NEVER resign willingly. Takers?

@georgetakei An attempt to leave on his own with his so-called "dignity" intact. That won't keep him out of court.
@georgetakei It really shows how stupid he is.
