My only dismay over the “enshittening” wars is that a lot of the stuff people are mourning is the stuff that replaced the *actual* good thing, or swallowed up too much of its market to make it viable anymore.

It was the mom-and-pop (or mom-and-mom, pop-and-pop) stores that Walmart, Blockbuster replaced that we need to return to: for our own sakes, for our own mental health.

Then we can build networks between them with our technologies.

Anarcho-Syndicalism doesn’t have to look like Mad Max.

We can be building this now! We don’t have to wait for some revolution to dismantle our corporate overlords.

They are slow and they respond slowly to market changes.

It’s not enough to boycott Reddit/Twitter/Disney+ and return quietly under a different account.

Starve the beast to defeat it.

Then, when they arrive with wheelbarrows of cash, channel Nancy Reagan and “Just Say No.”

It’s harder than you think to do, and that’s how you know it’s good for you.
