holy smokes the new @gsap site is a stunner through and through. i've not seen a site this satisfying to scroll and click through in many moons

Homepage | GSAP

GSAP is an industry standard JavaScript animation library from GreenSock that lets you craft high-performance animations that work in every major browser.

@henry @gsap I have an allergic reaction to any website where scrolling up and down does not result in scrolling up and down.

@seldo @henry @gsap It’s not high jacking the scroll though (or doesn’t appear to be for me) and it’s a website for an animation library, so the animations feel appropriate, no?

I too have a strong reaction to most uses of scroll events, this seemed ok!

@matthewhowell @seldo @henry @gsap

What he said. It respects prefers reduced motion if you're not into animation - but frankly it's a website for an animation library.

The horizontal scroll with nested subanimations is incredibly OTT but people in the field know it's very hard to do. It's showing off a little. It's purposefully too much.

@matthewhowell Also - I love scroll animation because it actually puts the control right in the users hands. Too much? You can stop.

Love it and want to see it again, you can.

Want to whizz through and get to the bottom. No problem.

There's also no important content on that page that isn't accessible elsewhere on less animated pages.

The docs and learning center don't scroll horizontally. It's considered and we know what we're doing.

@cassiecodes @matthewhowell As I told Henry, my personal preference is that vertical scrolling should never result in anything other than vertical scrolling. I'm not claiming it's a universal principle or anything.
@seldo @matthewhowell Yeah that's all good! Horizontal scroll's not for everyone. I was just explaining why.
@cassiecodes The site is lovely, Cassie. Well done!
