Rape and murder are bad.

The end.

I’m looking at a lot of comments that disturb me

People saying they are against rape and murder one day—but the next day it’s acceptable because it’s against someone they don’t like?

If you have to add “but” or “well ackshually” to condemning violence then you never had any morals at all

Unfollow me.

@flexghost I don't know, that sounds like a dangerously reasonable and correct opinion to have.
@draeath then you are one of the few people that give me any hope for humanity

@flexghost aw, thanks.

I'm sad that the bar is so low that I pass it, though. People are so terrible sometimes :(

@draeath you can edit out sometimes and still be correct
@flexghost Some people make it really easy to see who they are even when they can't see themselves.
@barbelith a lot of people are tribal, I get that. But they really need to put their brain on hold to run with certain beliefs and narratives and it’s infuriating. And heartbreaking.
@flexghost if they think all rules are off when they feel their tribe is threatened, then they're stating that their tribe has no moral fabric to begin with.
@flexghost
Murder is bad, it extinguishes a soul.
Rape is horrifying forever, and a living soul has to deal with that until they die.
Murderer or rapist. Which one are you voting for to be the leader of our country?
@flexghost OK there have been details about all this I guess I didn't know about. Yeah, even in asymmetrical warfare there are limits.

@Tweetfiction

This reply shows your previous deleted reply was actually a challenge.

@flexghost I think it shows I haven't been as informed on this as I should be before popping off my mouth and going with my gut reaction. 🤷‍♀️
@flexghost sometimes there are situations with no good guys. I think this might be one of those. 😩
@Tweetfiction I love you. Seriously. ❤️
@flexghost Love you too, girl! 💗 I'm glad we can get to a good place, like adults. Imagine that. 😁
@flexghost A lot of people are outing themselves as completely immoral.
@galad it’s not like I’ve had a lot of faith in humanity after Covid and Trump, but this… just makes me so sad.
@flexghost true but kill or be cilled, what do you? Kill or children killed, what do you? When is it not murder and self defence, that should be the problem.

@NotSaint

Rape and murder are bad.

Why is this hard for you?

@flexghost yes but if in a situation where it was inevitable would you commit bad act? would you make the choice to commit bad to stop a more bad. Or is it killing is not murder such as killing in self defence or for those who can't defend themselves?
@NotSaint @flexghost I mean, we can discuss hypothetical situations all day, but in this case we are talking about (among other things) armed men attacking young innocent people at a music festival and taking them hostage/killing/raping them. That was not inevitable, that was not self defense, that will not help/solve *anything*. That was a criminal and unjustifiable act. What it will do is making the live of innocent people in these areas (in both side) worse.

@StephaneHuart @NotSaint

They’re listening to music and they’re Jewish? Oh then this is justified.

These fucking people.

@NotSaint what a garbage take. Get help.

@flexghost @NotSaint

Rape is always evil. Let’s get that out of the way.

Murder is also evil - depending on how you define murder. If someone is about to kidnap one of my daughters and the only way to stop them is to shoot them, I would shoot. I would probably feel really bad about it. But I would shoot.

If that puts a blemish on my soul, I will live with that. And I’ll discuss it with Jesus when they tally up my sins.

@flexghost I feel like we are in a third wave of finding out who people really are and it's all about the left now. We know the right. I have discovered that collectively being anti-trump is the only claim to the left that some have.

@noondlyt the little faith I’ve had in humanity is gone. “Liberals” “Lefties”

What a joke.

@flexghost Putting a flag on it, any flag, or a religion, any religion, doesn’t make it right.
It’s still a crime against humanity.

@flexghost

Any atrocity committed to civilians *and* soldiers is unacceptable. No ifs, buts, howevers.

I'm a leb that works for an Israeli co. and have a lot of friends there. Many of them even protested Netanyahu's power grabs regularly the last few months. And like 9/11 did for US, the attacks have now unified them sadly behind the same man they protested against.

What Hamas has done is kill progress for Palestinians and diverted the legal pressure off Netanyahu. So sad for everyone there.

@bkm this is so well said and Thank you for sharing with me. My Lebanese friends told me about what happened when they took in some refugees and they stated checkpoints and violence to the Lebanese communities that took them in. I understand the volatility but I can’t excuse the lack of humanity I’m seeing.
@bkm What progress for Palestinians was killed by Hamas? Haven't seen progress for years, things only got worse and worse. @flexghost

@rik @flexghost

The biggest of all... the support of Israeli civilians.

@bkm I must have missed something. Last I know is that Israel voted in a far right government that wants to annex all of the westbank. I didn't see any increased support of Israel citizens. S@[email protected]

@rik @bkm

Garbage take. You have a narrative and it’s supersedes whatever humanity you pretend to have.

Disgusting.

@flexghost I totally agree with your original toot. I don't accept rape and murder. @bkm

@rik

There've been widespread protests the entire summer against the Netanyahu government. I can't claim that those protests were directed at how the government was handling Palestinian territories but can assure you they were very much against this far right coalition.

I've traveled to Israel several times the last few years there is support for change. It takes 1 step forward then 2 steps back whenever there is an attack. This attack will take the whole region back 50 years.
@flexghost

@rik @bkm @flexghost all very complicated but at the end of the day it doesn’t excuse dead children.

@bkm @flexghost bibi seems to be the big winner here. Claims there was a massive intel failure, from one of the best intelligence services in all history.

I don't think this raises suspicion at all.

@Jon_Kramer @flexghost

My gf and I were talking about this. Netanyahu got his reason to obliterate the rest of the occupied territories.

@bkm @flexghost He still has a lot more provoking to do in the West Bank. He has forced more settlements, and raided more mosques... But it hasn't hit that tipping point yet.
@bkm believe me - this will be the end of the Netanyahu government. He has failed Israel & now it’s clear. Most Israelis are not “united behind him” - they are united in spite of him in order to free the captives & keep the country safe

@rabbijill

I think we're saying the same thing. Hope you're right.

@bkm @flexghost

110% agree, there is NO excuse for this vile attack and execution of innocent people.

Hamas with this action did the Palestinian cause a very bad service. Any solution now is eons away... shame on them.

@flexghost it's sad but not surprising to see the side-taking over despicable acts like this taking place under the cover of war

You can feel for and advocate for the oppressed and still be horrified by the acts of those claiming to fight for the side of the oppressed. It's not binary and there's bad actors everywhere

@wes when people get tribal they get binary in thinking. At the cost of their humanity.
@flexghost This is why I think I finally have to stop reading a certain social media platform. The third party app drama didn't do it, but every time I go there now I find it filled with comments glorifying murder and assault. "Fuck around and find out" has become a mantra that so many now seem to believe justifies violent revenge. It's terrifying to see how "someone parked too close my tesla" turns into a rampaging mob out for blood.
@masto so well stated. And good advice. I might need to tone down reading on social media
How Not to Respond to a Terrorist Attack

The things I least want to hear on a day when Hamas terrorists kill hundreds of Israeli civilians.

Dog Shirt Daily
@flexghost 1§ Human dignity is inviolable, inherent and irrevocable.
People are allowed to have their own belief, but the Human rights apply to everyone and everyone should stand by it. If not then one is being a doublestandard hypocrite.

@flexghost Not just that... the fact they can turn their brain off at the drop of a hat. The thought process (or lack thereof) must go like this:

Well this *one* deserved it

What if it was you and yesterday you said the exact opposite...

...uh....huh...

We were always at war with Eurasia indeed.

(Especially terrifying since this lack of empathy/morals can be turned on anyone by anyone and that sounds super familiar as a political ploy...🤔)

@Aviva_Gary I have to agree. I don’t know what these people believe if it can change with the wind.
@flexghost I've been blocking a lot of people who are scolding Israel as hundreds of Israelis are massacred, kidnapped, raped
