My 15 year old is wondering about calling teachers ‘sir’ and ‘miss’. It’s the custom in her school, but the two don’t feel balanced to her. Thoughts?

@davecormier Always hated being called ‘sir’ (or ‘miss’) had to train my post-16 students out of it. ‘My name’s Simon’

One other area where ‘sir’ is used is the police and military where it’s usually ‘sir’ and ‘ma’m’. Would that feel more balanced to her?

@davecormier Should it be mrs? Don't know how to pronounce 🙂. Misses?
@siavogel Mrs. in Canada refers to someone who is married... so... i don't think that would work.
@davecormier An equivalent for sir is dame but that is not your 15 yr old is looking for I assume 🙂
@davecormier Nice to see you here by the way 🙂
