Sadly the simplistic ideas to urban planning still exist - Bicycles are not a magic pill either. Short hop transport is still required because nobody builds homes near shops. Blocking up all the roads is an effective but useless trivial solution - planners treat towns like a SIM city game - great fun for those fit enough to cycle
