Currently in the job hunt after leaving an incredibly toxic work environment (to the point I developed joint pain from the stress).
Though I’m in my mid/late 20s with a valuable and in-demand master’s with ~3-5 years direct job experience, I’ve noticed companies are rapidly becoming more and more focused on bleeding workers dry. This is even in the interview process. 3 month waiting period for any sort of benefit, 6 month trial periods, “tests” to be done during the application process with no ability to discern if individuals are cheating and/or unfairly advantaged. You name it.
I’ve watched talented and young professionals even in their mid 30s suicidal from how miserable and pointless so many jobs are. Bear in mind, many of these people are credentialed and very passionate individuals in their fields.
I’m unsure where we’re going in the private sector but with the rapid rate of unionization - or at least rising sympathies towards so - I fully expect the working environment to become more shitty with time.
