Happy 30th birthday to the 3DO! The first system, the Panasonic FZ-1 R·E·A·L 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, was released in North America on October 4th, 1993.

Luc@retrosponge @LordArse tbf it had quite a few decent games, one or two better than the psx versions in either looks or play (not doom though). However it cost a damn fortune when it came out - I only got one after it bombed and they were selling second hand for about £40.
@Smarty_Undernuts @LordArse I had a friend who bought all the consoles when they came out back then. And I know it had other stuff but I remember being impressed by Need for Speed, and the Photo CD stuff.

I got really excited about the 3DO when it was announced in the press; scouring all the games magazine articles for info & pictures. Almost immediately lost interest when the PlayStation was announced.
