According to E.O. Wilson's work on eusocial species, it is the cooperative & social sharing species that have existed the longest. Ants. Bees.

Humans are one of the few non-insect eusocial species.

Humans survived several population bottlenecks because of our eusocial behavior, while our other primate cousins went extinct. Cro-Magnon, Denisovian, Neanderthal.

In crises, selfish behavior reduces survival rates, even of the selfish.

Longtermism is an anti-survival cult.
