@fonolog in all honesty, in my world ppl speak (bad) english to eachother because it's the only language they both know...
@fonolog

Giancarlo Esposito if i'm not mistaken - fine actor.
@fonolog Stimmt ja gar nicht. No es verdad.
@mafe @fonolog Nimm's halt jetzt Mal nicht gleich direkt persönlich. Issja nur ein Kunswerk. 😉
@fonolog You take us in the meling.
@fonolog I speak English, because I like it. 🙃 - Does anyone in London have a room for a nice German?
@fonolog Very true... but they (US) are very much impressed when I tell them that I actually speak 3.5 languages (Deutsch counts for half) ;-)

@fonolog

I'm glad your county has a functioning education system that doesn't leave you with crippling debt.

We're just over here trying to convince our government that racism is bad, trans people should be allowed to exist, workers should make a living wage, and healthcare should be free.

I'll try to fit time/money in for that Babbel subscription though.

@fonolog Correction, it’s the language we are most likely to have in common. ;)
@fonolog 🗣️ 📣 LOUDER AND ¡CON EL PECHO!
@fonolog you speak english because it's the language you have in common with other people. I speak english because I find it more pleasant than my first language (spanish). We are not the same.

@fonolog I am reminded of the Spanish bartender in the series Benidorm. From the start of the very English take on holidaying in Spain he is the butt of jokes because of his poor English speaking ability.

However in the last season when the hotel is trying to get a circus to put on a show we see him go the all the various international performers and cajoles them into performing on their day off. He speaks, I believe, at least 5 languages fluently as well as his Spanish.

Eyeopener.

@fonolog Try to talk to the French.
@fonolog That would be a wrong assumption.
@fonolog ni povus paroli esperante, se vi preferus
@fonolog I'm 99% sure this is how my wife feels when talking to me

@fonolog

It burns, Precious, it burns!

@fonolog oof, right in the hegemony
