When we moved to this valley 25 years ago, we always celebrated if we could make it to Sept 18 -20th without a killing frost. Today we will have tomatoes and basil with our lunch. All week we will have highs in the above 80°F and lows in the 50's.

30 or 40 years ago, the high temp for the year around here was 86. It used to go a few times each winter to 25 or 30 below 0F and we'd go 2 weeks without it going above zero.
The scary side of this coin is that the Great Lakes are *hot*. I suspect that the Mohawk Valley is going to see a 5-6' lake effect snowfall this winter, which will be too much snow even for around here, where 2' is common and 3' isn't all that big problem. Things could get tough in a few months.
