If you have any questions about #Nigeria feel free to ask me.

My qualifications: I'm Nigerian - from the East, lived in the Middle Belt, the North, and in the West. I'm a Christian Igbo, grew up with Muslim Hausas, married to a Christian-Muslim Yoruba. I speak a bit of Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba.

I don't expect you to know much about Nigeria, so I won't consider anything you ask to be stupid, ignorant or racist.

@davidnjoku I know nothing about Nigeria, but I would like to know more. As a Nigerian, what are some misconceptions on which you would like to educate me? Also, tell me about Nigerian food please.

@Sandywb @davidnjoku

We have Amala, Eba, Iyan, Fufu, Tuwo, Iyan(Pounded yam), etc

And for soup, we have egusi, ewedu, efo, ogbono, ila, etc
😉

@badmuskent @davidnjoku I’m going to go research these. Thanks!
@badmuskent @Sandywb @davidnjoku
Ive had fufu! I will never forget it as long as I live and I wish I could remember what it was served with. It was made for me by friends during a life past now, I might not ever have it again. But I remember
@Sandywb It has died down a bit, but I used to hate that "Nigerian prince" scam. Yes, we have scammers in Nigeria (that's what you'll get when you have an educated population with no prospects) but most Nigerians aren't scammers. I'd argue that another reason we have so many is that the average Nigerian is pretty gullible!
@davidnjoku I’d forgotten about the Nigerian prince scam. 🙄 You mentioned that the population is educated, but without prospects. What kind of businesses would benefit Nigeria and Nigerians?
@Sandywb The problem with Nigeria is the lack of institutions. We need the judiciary, the government, and the civil service to all be strong. The people are entrepreneurial, but if the system doesn't work, nothing will.
@davidnjoku What type of government does Nigeria have?
@Sandywb We're a presidential democracy, very similar to America. We've got 2 main parties, and power tends to switch from one to the other. In our most recent election a third party presented a candidate of change. Unfortunately he didn't win
@davidnjoku Thank you. Change is tough for any country. If I bc we’re to visit Nigeria, what are five must see things? I’m more of a mature buff than a museum sort, but I do love history.
@Sandywb In that case I'd go to the middle of the country - to Jos, where I grew up, and Abuja, the capital. The mountains and rock formations over there are amazing. Great for hiking too, but not overly taxing.
@davidnjoku Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. ❤️
