I'm extremely sad and angry at the felling at #SycamoreGap, and will probably do another thread on that, but would just like to take a moment to appreciate Simon Heywood's poem and how it ties into the #folk tradition of rage and protest
This is based, I suspect, on the immortal 17th century protest poem:
They hang the man and flog the woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
But leave the greater villain loose
Who steals the common from the goose.
The law demands that we atone
When we take things we do not own
But leaves the lords and ladies fine
Who take things that are yours and mine.
