Just spit balling here: how about a federated version of Bandcamp. The 15% commission goes to pay for the server you're hosted on, the people that run it etc. This seems preferable to freaking out every time some evil tech company acquires Bandcamp.
@ModusMatt I wouldn’t ask about Epic being potentially evil as all the signs are there, but is the new owner (songtradr) evil? Curious what they’ve done that would be construed as such?
@mbd don't know honestly. I just generally regard companies as evil I guess, lol. Unless it's a co-op run by workers or something. Thing is, what happens when they decide it's not worth it, not profitable enough, that they can't compete with streaming sites? Is it just gonna be passed around from company to company like a hot potato with us wondering if they're going to change everything, having no control over the situation?
