what phone(s) do you use and what's the default web browser on them? - Blåhaj Lemmy

mine Samsung Galaxy a32 4g (will probably switch to a Google pixel 7a somewhat soon) and the default web browser is Firefox but i am in the process of switching to iceraven

i could also get a /e/ os phone and an Samsung Galaxy note 9 on iode os
You can now get a fairphone with /e/ os pre-installed and with aparent support, if you’re thinking of gating a new one anyway. They don’t ship to the americas though, and if you get it re-shipped the 5g won’t work but if that’s not an issue it’s a good product
This is the only thing stopping me from getting a Fairphone. 🥲 I want one so badly. Having it re-shipped might just be worth it if 5g is the only pain point… we’ll see.
I can’t recommend /e/ os enough it feels like the mint(linux distro) of degoogled android rooms everything works out of the box
Phone:OnePlus 6. Default browser: Mull.(it’s been Firefox nightly for ages bu I recently switched)
Samsung A52 and vivaldi
Strange question, lol. Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, firefox
from a personal security standpoint answering this question is silly. There are a lot of phone and browser specific vulnerabilities out there, what does anyone gain from sharing this info with strangers!?

You’re right though, gonna go edit my reply.

There’s a lot of people trying to push Firefox on Lemmy lately.
Reminds me all those crypto people shilling their worthless token

Not just lately. Feels like it always has been like that.

Use anything else? Clearly you’re an idiot /s

It’s not that you’re an idiot, but it’s wise to avoid using a chromium/blink based browser since they are building a dangerous monopoly. Firefox is the best known alternative, but there are a couple other options.

Falkon is actually also nice. But nobody carws about it so no real addons and only maintenance support.

I have no idea who does QTWebengine, but its good

At least it’s better than on reddit where if you dare mention a browser you’ll get a few comments about how great Brave is
I use both Firefox and Brave. I’m not sure if that makes me an asshole or not.
I mean its the only FOSS fully customizable and non big-Corp browser that you can harden towards Tor-Browser, use for i2p and so much more
I know, because there are so many people on here telling me.
Galaxy Fold 5 and Firefox
Pixel 6 with GrapheneOS using Firefox.
S23 and Firefox. I do keep the DuckDuckGo browser installed for the app tracker blocker.
Same here except for duckduckgo

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro and Brave.

I used to like Xiaomi but nowadays, I fucking hate them.

Mine is buggy as fuck, piece of shit software. And they are taking their fucking time updating it. Not that I think that it will fix those bugs…

I need to install some different ROM, but haven’t got the time to do that yet.

Yeah I’ve been too lazy to install a custom ROM. I do use a different launcher (KISS) and am pretty half with the phone overall. I do get the odd random crash, and the memory management is a bit aggressive
My buggs have to do with work profile and not being able to attach pictures/files and things like that.
Poco X3 Pro and I use Opera. I tried Firefox, but I didn’t like it, some websites looked huge, some tiny. The manual scaling option in settings didn’t help it. Opera handles scaling of desktop websites properly. It also has desktop-like tab switcher on top which I like.
Firefox mobile probably isn’t optimized for tablets, which my phone basically became.
Fairphone 3 / Lineage with Privacy Browser and Fennec
This is one of those many posts that leaves me wondering, “Why do you want to know?” “What are you going to do with the information?”
What are you worried they’re going to do with it?
Somehow target us with ads.
A phone actually made by a company known for making headphones. It’s called the Apple’s iPhone. Seems ok to me. The default browser is Safari and works pretty well. Weird thing about this phone is it doesn’t have a keyboard, just a picture of one on the screen. When you press the screen it can see these presses almost as if it were a real keyboard!
I think I have heard of them.
Pixel 6 Pro, stock OS, Firefox Beta.
I recently mentioned I gave up my phone, but before I gave it up, it was a highly modified Samsung (I think… no specific model if it was) with no internet (by choice).
TY L on X

Starting next week, I am going to make one of my biggest decisions. I'm going to eliminate my cell phone number. Marketing has made the experience futile if you ask me. From now on, if anyone needs anything, my Discord is TheMonthOfJune and my server at https://t.co/YheoV5q2Q7 <3

X (formerly Twitter)
Pixel 6 with Firefox. I use the default os, as the Danish ID isn’t supported on rooted devices, and you pretty much need it for everything.
Swedish works on graphene even without any Google support. No root needed either.
Zenfone 10. Firefox
pixel 6, fennec (fork of Firefox)
It doesn’t default to Samsung Internet?
Poco x3 pro, Firefox nightly

Pixel 7 / Google Chrome

I rarely do much web browsing on mobile so that suits me fine for quick things. But if I were browsing Lemmy I’d use Tor Browser like I already do on desktop.

Why tor for lemmy?
mabye he used the same for Reddit
Firefox is the only mainstream browser that supports ublock origin on mobile in my experience. Although they’ve made some very weird decisions settings wise over the years. Like not letting you touch “hidden” settings anymore
Brave has a built in adblock and I find the browser better All around for Android. FF all the way on desktop though
LightPhone 2. It doesn’t have a web browser.
Poco F3 running with /e/OS and mull
iOS with Firefox as my browser.
GrapheneOS (Pixel) with Mull.
Galaxy S10e with Fennec. When Firefox finally supports all add-ons I’ll switch back to that.
Pixel 6, Firefox
Pixel 4a, with Brave, because it gets rid of most ads.
