They've just arrested a teenager in connection with the Sycamore Gap tree being cut down, and now I will not be surprised to discover it was done as a TikTok "prank"

Surprised the teenager in question hasn't already put the video up on YouTube with the title 'I FELLED THE SYCAMORE GAP TREE #RIDGEWALLET'.

@nickbwalking Just saw a "Kids Today!" post and I must admit, my first thought was how, as a teenager, I was involved in direct action to *prevent* trees being cut down.

But those kids exist today too (Extinction Rebellion / School Strike anyone?) And back when I was a teen, there were plenty of vandals willing to destroy anything good in the world.

Social Media has turbocharged it all though. So things are different in that respect. The attitudes are still the same but they've been amplified.

@nickbwalking I just said to hubby that I thought it could be a dare of some sort.
