Rogers customers report internet disruption in Ontario - Lemmy.world

A critical fiber line was cut in the Toronto Don-Mills area on September 25th by a Metrolinx construction. The fiber line is critical to parts of the GTA and parts of Ottawa. Customers and third party internet providers relying on Rogers infrastructure have been left without internet or degraded speeds.

Pretty same when I was on Rogers. Though the only providers available in my area run on Rogers infrastructure and are directly effected.

Can’t believe a service provider this large would allow a construction company to cut a main line this large that connects almost all of Toronto and many parts of Ontario.

They don’t allow it. It happens. Unless you have someone watching the backhoe in real time with like a stun gun pointed at the operator, you WILL get infrastructure wrecked. The can’t know and care about every wire laid down there, and there are a lot.
