@smallsco Depends on the airline, some are fine with a cat or dog under a certain size. Hell of a lot better than them going in the pet hold.

StarWatcherTim@smallsco I have seen cats in carryon size crates. I assume they are placed at the owners feet during takeoff/landing but as long as the attendants don't put up a stink they could be let out for short periods. I don't think any of my cats would be calm enough for a plane ride.
Njord@smallsco You can bring pets on planes, but normally you have to pay extra, get permission in advance, many airlines (like Ryan air) still refuse, and you're absolutely supposed to keep them in a carrier during the flight.
I brought my cat in the cabin with me when we moved to Cyprus ( a 36 hour odyssey) , but the airlines were very clear that she had to stay in her carrier.
if the cat was on their lap like that, either it was an ESA accommodation, or they were breaking the rules
@Njord This was on a domestic flight in the US. The passenger had a carrier, but the cat was out for most of the flight. The flight attendants were aware but didn’t care - I assume it was permitted.
