Flying SquidI always feel intimidated by cops in full combat gear and rifle at airports. I know I didn’t do anything wrong, but it’s like when a cop is following right behind you in traffic. Even though you aren’t doing anything, he might decide you are. He has all the power and you have none.
It is reasonable fear. They can kill you and likely get away with it if they claim you scared them.
Seems pretty stupid. Keep them safe from what? This is Philadelphia, not Ukraine. Big obvious cameras work fine as deterrents.

A guy with a rifle is not going to fix that. If anything, he’s going to get jumped and his rifle stolen.

If the shop is hiring armed guards then the problem is obviously but enough to warrant that kind of expense. Why would a sandwich shop pay that kind of money if it wasn’t needed.
If it is a for PR stunt, it is a small price to pay for us circle jerking on here for free...

I moved here recently and for the love of God I do not understand what the hype is about.
Why do people from Chicago think their version of everything is the best? No one likes Chicago versions of anything outside of Chicago.
Imagine going for a sandwich and a guard who wants to shoot a guy but has bad aim instead gets you. But it’s okay! He’s a cop/veteran who knows folks and will be let off with a warning. Because cops never get held accountable if they are shooting bad people.
