Last 24 hours of stress!! Accidentally left my filming equipment on the train ride home yesterday. Got off at Blacktown, train headed toward Penrith. Reported it lost to Sydney Trains - had no hope of recovery and losing a days worth of footage for ‘My Geek Culture’. Engorged on chocolate to suppress misery.

Today: random email from good samaritan saying they found my equipment on the train, heading into the city. It survived going to Penrith and on its way back to the city - he got on at Pendle Hill to head to Central last night. Found my details after going through footage and doing some Googling (had no I.D. on the equipment other than me saying my name and website on some footage).

I picked it up from their home 30 mins later. Offered $ reward, but he said he was happy that he made someone’s day and believes in karma.

So damn grateful. (Will share video when I’ve finished editing).

Picture: Isaiah, the Good Samaritan with a heart of gold. From the bottom of my heart, thank you again.

@mattfultoncomau awww sweet
@dj2mn never expected the equipment back. Lesson learned: label your equipment.
@mattfultoncomau @dj2mn also, kindness to/of strangers is wonderful!
@mattfultoncomau @26pglt isn’t it just. If only there’d been a kind stranger on the train that time I left my expensive noise canceling Bluetooth headphones on the Bankstown line that time. You are very fortunate.
@dj2mn That’s a shame about your Bluetooth headphones. As long as you stay the good person, that’s all that matters. I’m sure karma came to whomever ended up with your headphones.
@mattfultoncomau more or less what I thought at the time, yes :)
@mattfultoncomau most excellent!
@weslowik there are still great people in the world. :)
@mattfultoncomau there are! Once long long ago, lost my wallet. Person found, for some reason I didn’t have my drivers license in it. BUT I did have my high school alumni card in it. Person called the school, they got in touch with me, I called the lady. Picked it up, she also refused a ‘reward’. Never forget how she went out of her way. Karma is a good thing. Your incident touched my soul as well.
@weslowik thank you. I recorded a video with Isaiah which I’ve attached to my main video, just to make sure I won’t forget the good deed and he knows what it has meant to a total stranger.
