I got the new #COVID mRNA vaccine. If it’s available where you are, it’s a great way to protect you & your community from serious illness.

@Sheril

It's just become available in New Mexico, and I just made an appointment at the local pharmacy to get it. :-)

@Sheril
Last week I made an appointment for today for both flu and COVID vaccines. The pharmacy called yesterday to say they didn't get their shipment of COVID vaccine.

Well, at least I got my flu shot today. Hope I can get another appointment for the new COVID vaccine soon, but so far no luck.

@Sheril Great! I was able to get mine 3 days ago but I had to hunt it down. I was hell bent on getting it cuz I have to travel in about a week. I’ll still wear a mask on the plane tho.
@kentuckyalumni @Sheril
We did the same here. Several trips to get the vaccine only to be told they didn't have it or insurance wasn't working and it would be $155 each (for four of us). Finally switched pharmacies and got pharmacist on the phone, asked if we could walk in, he confirmed they had it and we went in the next day. Also taking a trip and for sure still masking.
@Sheril I went to get mine yesterday and insurance didn't cover it.... will probably go back this week with credit card.
@joe @Sheril Heard some insurance companies who are covering it are coming up as not covering it because billing code or similar isn’t in pharmacy/insurance computer system / gateway. I called my insurance to verify coverage and they said yes - we’ll see what CVS says when I show up this week.
@joe @Sheril insurance companies have to cover it. I believe because it’s recommended by CDC. If you do end up using your credit card keep your receipts and ask insurance how to request reimbursement. But hopefully they’ll get it fixed before you have to pay out of pocket. Good luck!
Americans trying to get new covid vaccine hit insurance snags, face bills

Insurers are supposed to pay for the updated coronavirus vaccine after the federal government stopped buying them. But some consumers are being turned away

@Sheril I've been grateful for all 6 Modernas but I'm holding off a bit this time to see if Novavax is approved. If not, I'll get Moderna again but I have pretty severe nausea, fever, aches for 36 hours after and I heard Novavax may not cause as much discomfort.

@ColoradoCarol @Sheril I also had similar side effects. On my last one, I switched to Pfizer and alternated acetaminophen* (paracetamol if you're British) and Ibuprofen for 24 hours. Not sure which made the difference, but I felt fine.

*talk to your pharmacist and be careful not to OD on this stuff if you value your liver

@Sheril Not available at my pharmacy yet, but I will get the vaccine as soon as they have it.
@Sheril I was encouraged when I got mine, since the line at the pharmacy was long and I had to wait. A good problem to have!
@Sheril I'm signed up to get the Covid booster next week, but CVS tells me it's not a guaranteed appointment because it's being used so fast. There's also little communication about availability. Seems like the distribution scheme isn't up to the demand this time. Could it be the $110/shot they're charging?

@Sheril

Hope to get mine within the next few days.

@Sheril I got mine 36 hrs ago and just starting to feel normal again. A small price to pay.

@Sheril

Covid booster not yet available at my pharmacy, but I booked for flu and rsv next week and will check when I'm there to see when covid booster will be available.

I need to stop taking one med for a few days before I get the covid shot, so will have to factor that in.

@Sheril I got it Friday. I felt lousy the next day. But my wife just had covid, she felt lousy for a week even with paxolovid starting day 2 after symptoms.

1 day < 1 week. Vaccine for the win.

@Sheril

I just got mine yesterday.

@Sheril Lucky you. Stay well.
@Sheril Did you pay for it yourself, or did you indebt society to get it?
@Sheril I will as soon as it is available, right now here in the UK they are only giving it to over 60s
@Sheril : Got mine last Monday. Got my flu shot at the same time.
@Sheril Not available to me yet, but I’ll be first in line when it is!
@Sheril Side note, they don’t work, like all vaccines
