It requires a 2/3 majority vote to expel a member of the U.S. Senate — if Menendez refuses to resign, Sen. Schumer should move for his immediate expulsion. The message needs to be crystal clear: Democrats don’t tolerate corruption.

Even from a strategic perspective, there's very little downside. New Jersey has a Democratic governor and they already have a short list of vetted candidates after his last indictment.
