Today I bought a bunch more really excellent #pcgaming games at absurdly low prices:

-
#cuphead is $14 on #GoG
- 4
#Batman #Arkham games for $5-7 also on GoG
- 2x
#HyperJam for my brother and myself <$4

Some of the Batman games won't boot on
#SteamDeck but that's okay, I can still play them on the desktop.

I paid almost nothing for these games and now own them indefinitely, and will continue to work on whatever hardware I can possibly run them on. It's a mystery why anyone chooses consoles.
I also installed #heroicgameslauncher and it was incredible how easy Valve makes this sort of thing on #SteamDeck. Just download/install from the "Discover" app store. Sign into #GoG account. Click download. Click "Add to Steam". Go back into the launcher and BOOM there it is alongside all my other games!

I also used it to install a shortcut for
#XboxCloudGaming and #GeForceNow and add it to Steam launcher and it automatically added the appropriate artwork and added it into the Steam launcher! And it works perfectly!

I didn't test xbox too much but just demo'd a couple of matches of
#Fortnite and it worked perfectly!

The controller input didn't work for Nvidia, and there was a long queue just to grab a server. But I can definitely see myself ponying up the cash to use that in the future when my hardware gets too old! Or during the Summer months when it's too damn hot to run it! It makes a lot of sense to democratize the hardware to dozens (hundreds) of users, rather than a PC sitting idle 99% of the time. $100/ year is way less than I have paid for my PC! And without the headaches!

@DeShawnFranco
The beauty of embracing an open operating system is the freedom to do whatever.

As for gefore, when I did use it for my deck you just had to set the controls like you did on Xbox gamepass. I don't have a sub anymore but I hope to resub someday

@DeShawnFranco as far as i can remember it's only really Arkham Asylum that struggles to boot out of the box on the deck but it's relatively easy to fix with proton tricks, the rest should only require minor tinkering (like changing the proton version for example) if at all.
@sudoaptgetlife Yeah I tried all that. No luck.

@DeShawnFranco Strange. I can't remember what steps i took at the time to get it working on mine but i don't think it required much tinkering (compared to other games) and it did work after as i completed it on the deck.

link below might help.

@DeShawnFranco I think Arkham city just required changing the proton version, the rest if i remember right just worked with no tinkering required.
Batman: Arkham Asylum won't boot

Hey all! I recently got BAA on sale from GOG the other day after giving a pirated copy a go, however I have tried installing the purchased copy...

@sudoaptgetlife I don't know what Proton and wine tricks are. Not about to go into the CLI. Too much faff. Not a huge deal that it doesn't work.
@DeShawnFranco fair enough, there are gui apps for protonup qt, proton tricks and wine tricks if you're ever feeling adventurous lol. you rarely have to do anything in CLI in linux these days, especially for deck related stuff. If you've got a windows computer you should be able to stream to the deck if you want to play it portably for now. You never know, maybe at some point in the future they might fix it so we don't have to faff about with stuff like this.
@DeShawnFranco It’s not a mystery. Console owners just make different tradeoffs than you. Doesn’t mean they’re wrong or inferior. It just means they’re different.
@tnypxl I didn't say anything about them being "wrong" or "inferior"...
@DeShawnFranco I know. But it’s often a conclusion that PC fanboys seem to reach.
@DeShawnFranco There are more options, hardware wise, to play games on PC... but I very consistently see the batman Arkham collection for under $7 on console as an example... so id say deals aren't something exclusive to PC gaming. Better freedom is though.
