About 2 years ago I wrote about the UX of links on the Fediverse.

At the time only a few mobile apps supported opening Fediverse links in-app, but this only worked for mastodon links.

Opening links to other servers, in-app, is a much more common pattern now, which is great because we can open links from Lemmy, Peertube, etc.

One place this isn't working well, is for #wordpress, it's often the opposite problem!

Mainly because Mastodon handles `Articles` so poorly

2/

The plugin worked around this by providing a template to allow publishing as a `Note` with a link to the full post, and additional tokens.

But this link, fetched with ActivityPub still shows the same `Note`, this is like content-negotiation hell

Though now that Mastodon 4.2 accepts Rich Text perhaps it's time for Mastodon to update its `Article` type Transformer, and just support it natively?

We can live with images being stripped from content and tacked to the end, right?

@mediaformat please please please lol

@liaizon right?

I ended up making a callout for a working group but then got busy with other stuff.

@mediaformat what can we do to push this forward? Seems silly we haven't made more progress on this in the past 4 years
Here is an example of the behaviour outlined above, using FediText
