The German word "hochgehen" can mean:

- to go up(stairs)
- to go off, erupt

The word "fertigmachen" means:

- to get ready
- to mess somebody up

Often I tell the kids: "Geht hoch und macht euch fertig!"

What I mean:
- "Go upstairs and get ready (for bed)!"

What they hear:
- "Lose it and fight!"

Enjoy our language!

@jensclasen 😀Oookkayy I'm not sure "enjoy" is quite the right word. More like beat my head against the wall in confusion and frustration.
*sigh*
Fine
One day I'll get out my German books and relearn it.
