Had a lot of type 2 fun the past day and a half playing large appliance repair technician.
These machines came with the house I bought.
Dryer was badly clogged with lint and random items, like a sock. The lint was adhering to the various lint filtering assemblies and exhaust components. Disassembled and washed.
Washing machine was non functional but only because the control lockout toggle button was stuck. Disassembled, discovered various dirty and rusted parts. Cleaned. Used phosphoric acid jelly and steel wool to remove rust. Sealed those areas with a faux enamel epoxy. Got the button un-stuck.
Reassembled everything and got good test cycles.
Washing some clothes for the first time in my house. It's a good feeling.
