Texas teacher fired after assigning an illustrated Anne Frank book

The graphic novel adaptation released in 2018 is faithful to the original text in Anne Frank's diary.

@Free_Press they will let people keep their guns because it increases the chances of violence and provides an excuse to send it the military (if the ‘wrong’ people are being killed)
@Free_Press the never started by taking the guns. They started by firing the teachers
@Free_Press Contrary to NRA propaganda the Nazis did not generally disarm the German population. My grandfather was a known opponent of the Nazis. He was removed from office as the last non-Nazi mayor in his village in 1933, yet he had to give up his guns only when the US army banned them in 1945 (they also reinstated him as mayor).
@Free_Press yep absolutely, free thinking and questioning are the first thing dictators try and crush and of course books provide far to many contradictory ideals and ways of thinking.
@Free_Press I'm sure they wanted Ayn Rand to be assigned instead... -_-

@Free_Press A detail worth emphasizing I think - this was in an 8th grade class, so kids around 13 years old.

Anne Frank wrote her diary from age 13 and 15.

It was a firing offence for a teacher to expose 13 year olds to the lived experience of a 13 year old.
