Interactive widgets just make me want 2x1 and 1x1 widgets even more. I mocked this up 2 years ago, and I think they'd be doubly as good now. Let me make my home screen a Stream Deck!

What if iOS actually had "small" widgets?

See this in video form here! iOS 14 brought widgets to the iPhone, and they're awesome! I use a few on my home screen, and we saw more excitement around them than basically any new iOS feature I've seen in the past decade. These widgets came in 3 sizes: small,

@matt instead of a 1x1 widget there should be an API for a smart icon. Weather app shows the current temperature for an icon. Calendar shows the date. Task managers still have a check mark.

@ChrisLawley @matt would also be interesting to have multiple touch targets on the icon (e.g. a plus symbol to add a task / event) - which would make even more sense to reuses WidgetKit then.

@matt um on Android you can have different sized widgets. Hasn't Apple copied that yet?
