our new Moon Phase AI is a LLM trained on 38 years worth of moon phase data. it uses 25kWh of electricity per post & is correct 32% of the time. also we have gotten it to mostly stop being overtly racist
@nash Does it consume so much water it alters the tides, and thus distorts the phases of the moon?
@nash Can't tell you phases of the moon past September 2021
@nash Believable up until the last sentence
@nash Finally! ๆœˆ่ฉ  reboot?

@nash Forever thinking of the time I had to meet with a developer from corporate about the new workflow management platform he was implementing, which was going to require us to completely replace all of our mobile work stations. At the end he asked if I had questions.

Q: So, it's not finished yet?
A: Not yet.

Q: Do we have a projection for when it will be finished?
A: Not precisely, but you can start using it right away in its current state.

Q: And in its current state, it tracks much less info than the current platform.
A: But it's going to track much more.

Q: But it doesn't.
A: But it will.

Q: Theoretically.
A: Yes.

Q: And it's going to cost us [figure]
A: Right.

Q: And corporate flew you out from New York to explain this to me in person.
A: I mean... yeah?

Literally all tech R&D is like this now.

@mshaw
I, um, ah I just...

What?

I mean, like, WHAT?

Can you please fill in some details about this story, specifically what is this guy thinking?

@AlexsandraSmart Your guess is as good as mine. All I can really add is that this was the type of business with a big gulf in communication between office staff and field staff, and a lot of people on the R&D side had very little, if any, idea what we on the operations side did with our time or what our actual needs were. I'm sure he genuinely felt that his new platform was very impressive, and for all I know it really was, just not in a way that had any actual benefit. i.e. "You were so preoccupied with whether you *could* do it that you never stopped to consider whether you *should.*" See also: LLM's, cryptocurrency mining, etc.
@nash I'm a partner at a VC firm and I would like to invest a zillion dollars in your groundbreaking work
@nash Just ask it yes-or-no questions and use the reverse of its output. Presto, 68% correct!
@nash All you haters are missing the potential here. I can ask the AI to show me moon phases that have never existed, like a 7-10 split or waxing gibbon.
@nash you should try evaluating it on whether people ~feel~ like the answer is good, rather than worrying about someone else's "objective truth." I'll bet your success rate will go up a lot!

@nash Oh you'll LOVE my AI math model for summing together integers.

There are actually three models, Default, Lite and UltraLite. Default has the most complex neural network so you'll almost certainly want to use that, you know, for maximum AI.

@nash I give it a week before it starts sending unsolicited nudes.
@nash does it just intentionally lie to you about the thing when it detects that your not white
