Yeah, but think about it. Most energy nowadays comes from basically very hot water (steam) that runs through a turbine-driven generator. And integrated circuits are just very complex clocks.
Burn coal, make steam, use steam to turn tubine, generate electricity, transmit electricity, receive electricity, pump into alarm clock, vibrate crystal, count vibrations, tell time. Checks out.
So basically modern day technology is Steampunk?
Just got one step further and the heat in the water comes from sun, the time comes from the relative position of the sun-- everything just comes from the sun
Praise the sun!
Until you get the nuclear power and then itβs power from a dead sun.
