🏳️🌈🖖🏽The GOP thinks the answer to states where they are losing on issues like abortion and gerrymandering is to increase their attacks upon democracy. They did this in Wisconsin, trying to impeach Justice Janet Protasiewicz after she was duly elected. They did it in Ohio, trying to game the system with Issue 1. The voters are on to them, and they're getting really pissed off. It’s not a good look, and they will remember in 2024.

Brett Glass - WY7BG@georgetakei Impeachment serves an important purpose, allowing duly elected officials to be removed if the public made a mistake. But in this case, she has had no opportunity to commit any malfeasance! Her high crime and misdemeanor was, simply, getting elected.

* (I refuse to use the conventional, convenient initialism. There's nothing "Grand" about the party, at least ever since the Southern Strategy. As someone observed, the erstwhile party of Lincoln has done a 180° and become the party of John Wilkes Booth.)

I live in Madison, WI, and the extent to which this behavior/attitude has energized the voters cannot be exaggerated. When I worked polls in the 2020 election, multiple voters told me they were there to vote in person so their vote would count/survive the anticipated legal challenges. They were pissed. (I smiled and said "thanks," or "I'm glad you came in today" and waved them on to the next step, because I believe in our election processes.)
