Why do people treat the end of U.S. dominance in an American sport as some horrible tragedy or sign of abject failure? Isn't that a good thing? To create something that people around the world love to play so much that matches actually become competitive? That's a win!

It feels like Peak America to invent sports that we only enjoy if nobody can possibly beat us.

@darmato Reminds me of the time when Dutch motorcross rider Jeffrey Herlings joined the US championship for two races for fun and then finished first in both those races on a bike he borrowed.
