Unrelated, I do think that all the takes on mastodon that shame artists for staying on twitter by pulling a guilt-by-association with nazis when a lot of them barely make rent and rely on an audience are really, *really* missing the mark, and probably part of the reason why more artists are moving to bluesky rather than to fedi platforms. Transitioning from anything in this capitalist hellscape is hard even for the technically proficient. Now imagine yourself less technical, and behind on rent.
Might as well blame people for living in a red state when they were born there because nazis exist in that state and they’re not moving out of it. It borders on classism, and whether you think it or not, is a very privileged position to be in to be able to move platforms and either bring your audience with you or be able to eat the cost in lost profits.
