Ways to demonstrate you are one with the planet if you are a tech worker in the Bay Area:

- Build shelters for the homeless
- Volunteer to clean up beaches
- Make your tech platform more transparent, more equitable and more accessible

Ways to NOT demonstrate you are one with the planet:

Drive 700 miles roundtrip in a rented RV to temporarily create the 10th largest city in Nevada so you can dance around while dressed like an extra from a Mad Max movie.

Just sayin', #BurningMan.

And in an example of how sometimes, "both sides" can be the problem, this story about Burning Man climate change protesters caught my eye:

One on hand, the protesters are right: While Burning Man may be an interesting cultural experience, it's bad for the environment.

On the other hand, if you're a climate-change protester traveling to Nevada from New York, Washington, California and Malta, you're part of the problem, not the solution, IMO.

Tribal ranger draws weapon on climate activists blocking road to Burning Man; conduct under review

The actions of a ranger for the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Reservation in northwestern Nevada are under review after he pointed a weapon Sunday at climate activists blocking the road to the annual Burning Man counter-culture festival in the desert. The tribe's chairman declined to say if the weapon pointed at protesters was a handgun or a Taser. Videos on social media showed the ranger plowing into the group's blockade and announcing on a bullhorn, “I will take you all out.” The coalition that organized the protest criticized the ranger's actions as excessive.

@[email protected] on a sorta funny note, my screen name I've used for many things since highschool, is BurningMan. Absolutely no relation to that event in Nevada though.
@augieray allowing higher density development in the bay area would also go a long way for the planet ✌️
@augieray
And don't get angry at climate disaster activists blocking the road, especially when trucks were driving around the road blockage via the desert on either side
@Christo70 You don't get the concept that climate activists who drive or fly across the country are part of the problem? Or that there may be a better solution to save the climate than blocking traffic and creating a miles-long traffic jam of cars running their engines?
@augieray what I get or don't get is irrelevant . Climate Crisis is destroying the ability of human life on this planet. In a miles-long traffic jam? Turn-off the engine.
@Christo70 So, let me make sure I understand your logic. Driving to Nevada from a San Francisco is bad for Burning Man attendees. But it's okay for protesters to drive from ten times further (creating 10x more waste) to protest Burning Man by creating a wasteful traffic jam. I'm an environmentalist--haven't owned a car in a decade--but I'm gonna call out so-called protesters who can't find better, more sustainable ways to get the message out and change minds.

@augieray I just watched a video of one dumb woman talking about how now they don’t have bikes because they had to leave them in the mud because they couldn’t get to them.

The organization needs to be billed for the destruction and the trash clean up, if anyone is even going to remove those bikes & stuff.
