Twitter owner Elon Musk just blamed the ADL, a Jewish advocacy organization, for the explosion of antisemitism on his platform.

Blaming Jewish people or groups for the hatred of Jewish people is the same perverted logic found in Hitler's "Mein Kampf."

Musk is the world's richest person and his companies are paid billions by the US government.

He posted the message in conversation with Keith Woods, an Irish neo-Nazi whose account Musk reinstated in April a few months after buying Twitter.

@nickmartin Nick, Elon Musk is trash, but describing the "ADL" as a "Jewish advocacy group" is pretty abhorrent framing. Were they a Jewish advocacy group when they were spying on the ANC in South Africa or...?

@Shebeencounter Does the ADL have issues both historically and current day? Of course. Have they also done and continue to do some applaudable work? Also yes.

But right now, that's all kind of beside the point.

The organization is being used by Nazis, in conjunction with the world's richest person, as a scapegoat to justify hatred directed at the Jewish people more broadly as well as Black, LGBTQ and plenty of other marginalized communities.

@nickmartin Nick, with respect, when you say Nazis, does that include or exclude the Israeli government? Because presently, they're a far more evil organization than Elon Musk and his online arch-doofuses. If Elon reduces the ADL's reach, which has captured the US media, btw, that's a W for Palestine.

You should think harder about why you've reacted so quickly to what's happening to an objectively bad organization that works to ensure Palestinians remain in fetters. Problematic at a baseline.
