Yes. It's tempting to hop on the religious tax-exempt status fist-shaking train, but for now I think I'll stick with the insanely-out-of-whack wealth distribution fist-shaking train.
In response to this thread, my husband and I were talking about inventing a tempting new political offering to get young people and low-wage workers to the polls. Here's what we came up with:
Low-wage workers pay zero income tax.
(Of course, we can tax the hell out of the super wealthy, too, but the piece d'resistance is the zero income tax rate for low-wage workers.)
