Recently came back from holiday after the RCD blew and turned off the home automation, internet and worst… the fridge freezer.

A week without power can really have an impact. Had to throw away shit loads of food.

Looking at options to build in resilience.

One option is a new fuse box that has different RCD circuits, where internet/automation and fridge are on dedicated circuits to limit impact.

@paulsanders New electrical installations in the UK should use RCBOs (basically a RCD for each circuit) so one faulty circuit doesn’t kill everything as you experienced. Of course that doesn’t help if it’s the freezer that’s taken a dump, but there’s not much you can do for that one.
