Phhhhwwww. I guess when you're from the Highlands and looking at your #FamilyTree at some point, you're going to come up against the #HighlandClearances.

Well, today was that day for me. #Kildonan
#Sutherland

@sfscotland where did they go to after #Kildonan?
@Janealogy When I was double checking something further down the tree I came up with something I wasn't happy with - I'm not convinced I got the correct person. So I'll be doing more work there and will work my way up again. However, I'm concentrating on another branch at the moment as I want to summarise each person and then collate it into some sort of presentation for a couple of Christmas presents.
@Janealogy However, on the other branch that I'm currently looking at, I've solved a family mystery. All the family (his parents, brothers, sisters and everyone who came after) believed my great-grand-uncle had been lost when a ship went down. Today, I found out he arrived alive and had emigrated to California in 1905 and was working there for decades. Today was a satisfying days work.
@sfscotland it’s great when you can reach a conclusion. I’m on the trail of someone said to have been in Australian Navy but have definitely found him in Merchant Navy, around Australia. A death or marriage would now be useful. #FamilyHistory

@Janealogy It sure is. I had found a couple of records but nothing conclusive. Then, the clincher was a draft US military registration in 1917-18 which gave his next of kin details.

I hope you find your person. Yes, the correct document can really help.
