Went on a bit of shopping spree lately... maybe because it was my birthday on 8/30! But anyways, I went the "candy store" aka HRO and got myself a FTM-500D to replace the CS-800D in my Jeep.

Then on my birthday, after picking up cheesecake, I made another jaunt to HRO and picked up an FT-5D.

I guess this makes me a Yaesu guy now?

@W1PAC Happy belated birthday! I like my FT3 and the FT5 isn't too different so I have a feeling you'll enjoy it a lot too. The FTM-500 is a big leap from the CS-800D but I think you'll enjoy the capabilities too, most particularly how easy it is to deal with APRS.

@roguefoam Yeah, the FTM-500 is a big step up, and the capabilities are why I got, especially for APRS. Well, that plus detachable head with speaker and mic input were the main selling points for me.

I really don't like that they made the screen smaller on the 500, that big knob makes no sence on a VHF/UHF rig. I would rather thave the big screen of the 400.
