Do people actually consider sharing memes “stealing” them? Or is that just a joke some people took seriously.

I post a lot to Lemmy, and the majority of the memes I share are stolen from elsewhere on the internet (although I try to give credit if it’s art and I get it from the creator). I’ve only personally made like 10 or so, so far.

Occasionally someone takes offense.

I just think it’s funny since a meme is literally something that’s shared.

Exactly! I’d be thrilled if anyone ever reshared one that I’ve made. That’s what they’re for.
