So I tried to start the machine up, filled with trepidation and a USB port of boot media … and it came up clean. Wat?

While this makes me happy, it also makes me very suspicious about the wellbeing of this hardware. It is 7 years old and maybe something has gone intermittent that shouldn't

@scruss yeah that ain't a good sign.

@scruss fsck is your friend....

And no it's not a swear word 😁

@Twiteryeanot I know it well. I just wasn't planning on spending my Friday evening of a long weekend trying to get a system to come back to life

It's been booting from a very ropey NVME SSD for a long time, and I hope it's that one that's gone

@scruss Um, that…doesn't sound good.
@jaybird110127 if it's the old M.2 SSD then it's an inconvenience. If it's the newer SSD then I've lost years of work
@scruss If finally implemented btrbk from my Ubuntu lunar laptop to my Synology and 4 days later the SSD started freezing.
