It’s now been a week since Greenbelt Festival started and I’ve had time to digest the whole thing. Not sure if there are many Greenbelters on the fediverse, but here goes anyway. #greenbelt #gb24 #festival
For those who don’t know Greenbelt is a liberal/progressive Christian arts/ideas that is now in its 50th year. It has become home for so many people across the spectrum of belief but particularly those who often are excluded from mainstream Christianity. All sorts of sub-cultures and identities, from goths to transgender, evangelicals to atheists, are free to be themselves and show themselves without anyone batting an eyelid. Just walking around is an uplifting experience.
Highlights this year included Gordon Brown talking about (and firing everyone up) about poverty both nationally and globally. Launching the concept of multi-banks to provide more than foldbanks would traditionally provide.
Jolyon Maugham discussed the creation of the good law project, possibly one of the most valuable organisations working to make the uk a better place today.
