Attention Netflix subscribers who like great movies: If you have never watched Arrival, it apparently comes to Netflix this Friday. I consider it to be the best movie so far of this millennium. It makes you think *and* feel. I've watched it several times, and read the story it was based on, and it absolutely holds up.

Arrival (2016)

Taking place after alien crafts land around the world, an expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat.

Thanks for this recommendation.

@mweston

I haven't seen the film, but a problem I had with the original short story was that the author apparently didn't know determinism only can hold sway until we get to the quantum level (if at all). At the fundamental quantum level, our best theories indicate that all events are chance events.

This made me hesitant to check out ARRIVAL.

Hey, for what it's worth, just yesterday I listed my own top ten fictional movies of the millennium—among some other movies.

In my life I've watched about 600 feature films in their entirety. And maybe 200 partially. Using my remaining three hundred characters, I'll list those I most recommend...
