Flicked or Flipped - Lemmy.world

Some guy gave the middle finger to my kids the other day when they were running a lemonade stand. I was telling the story earlier today and said ‘flicked off’ and someone thought it was weird I said that instead of ‘flipped’. It caused a discussion that had the room almost split, so I was wondering, “some dude (flicked/flipped) off my kids the other day.

Tmk, it’s interchangable in the American South. Can’t speak to south America, though. :p
I’m from the northern US, but lived in various states in the south for a little over 5 years. I have never heard anyone say “flicked off” before. It’s always been “flipped off.” I would’ve assumed you misspoke if you said “flicked.”
