Today my power was turned off in my house from 9am till 5pm (EEST) due to "scheduled maintenance". They never turned my power off for that long, except for rolling blackouts due to russian (read terrorist) missiles in autumn-winter 2022. When power returned back on my AC showed that it was 33 degrees C in my room. It's almost like a compensation for all the freezing I'll have to endure during autumn-winter 2023 because my heating is electric. I feel like I live in a literal hell. #war #Ukraine
@DemoniacDeath Regarding winter - Do you have access to a local or online camping supply store? Sleeping bags rated for Arctic conditions exists. I own an old one, but I am USA based. But I would gladly send you funds to help buy one or any other gear that would help. I have donated money to various funds & individual ZSU / AFU units to buy drones, arms, armor, and medical supplies. I have enough budget to help you thru the weather.
@AtomicBioPunk thank you very much for your consideration and for your donations. I already went almost 24h without heating in winter, so I know I can survive it. The torture is not exactly physiological, but rather psychological. It's the repetitiveness, irregularity, waiting, having no actual certainty when the power is going to be off and when it's going to be back on. Any semblance of scheduling and structure is out the window, including work.
@AtomicBioPunk The last winter I suffered through it with the hope it would be one and only winter like that. And now with the second winter just around the corner that hope gets dimmer by the day. Again, thank you, but you can't help specifically me. You're helping indirectly by contributing to our victory, which will (hopefully) be the end of this hell, but no one can directly help me. Sorry for my ramblings, it's kind of like a public diary to me, with no specific goal.
@DemoniacDeath 🫂 please know my offer stands if you change your mind. I'll keep donating to the various causes when I can as well. I hope it is some small comfort that this stranger is hoping things get better for you and all you care about.
