I joined reddit on the tailwind, so it was all echo chamber, we hate newcomers, gatekeeping, automod frenzy, too many rulebreakers, too many rules, etc I could be wrong, but thats what I imagine it used to be like.

And Lemmy isn’t an echo chamber? Try posting any conservative opinions around here and see how many downvotes you get.
I don’t know if that’s fair. Contemporary “conservatism” is pretty indefensible.
How so?

They have destroyed social programs and the middle class. Tax cuts for the rich drove up enormous, insurmountable debt. The war on drugs. There were no WMD’s in Iraq. Guns take precedence over kids. They are vastly overrepresented in government as a result of voter suppression and gerrymandering. They refused to let Democratic presidents appoint Supreme Court judges. They don’t mind stealing migrant kids from their parents and hiding razor wire in the Rio Grande. They support xenophobia, homophobia, and misogyny…

A bunch of spoiled babies who won’t accept that their dumbass, tub-of-lard dipshit president lost decided to overthrow the government. They support Putin…

Lol all bullshit or bipartisan. Not too mention the typical bigotry of just broadly calling them all “xenophobic” and other typical prejudice
Lol “bigotry”. Conservatism isn’t an identity. Their policies are literally xenophobic.
False. The bigotry of the left has led to that misinformation spreading
