Narain@lasersailor FWIW I’ve never had auch issues with Ricoh, whether it was the GRD II, GR II, GR III or my current GR IIIx
John Gruber@lasersailor @Onmyom @Ronkjeffries I've never even bothered trying Ricoh's methods for wirelessly transferring photos from the camera. I just shoot to SD, and put the SD card in my MacBook Pro.

@Onmyom @gruber @Ronkjeffries All too true Om...FWIW and YMMV I'm successfully using a SanDisk ImageMate PRO Reader that has CF and SD slots, with the supplied USB3 cable connected to an Anker USB-A to USB-C converter of unknown lineage into my M1 MacBook Air running 13.5.1 - lipstick on a pig for sure.

Penguin@Onmyom @gruber Reminds me of the old days of SmartMedia cards from my early digital cameras. Didn’t have built-in disk management so when card capacity changed camera & computer had to both be able to handle the change. Lost our Disney World photos in 2001 when Windows computer mangled our 128MB SmartMedia card it didn’t know how to read. Luckily data retrieval company in UK (of all places) got the photos back 🙂
@lasersailor @Onmyom @Ronkjeffries I carry a Lightning-SD card adapter in my travel bag, just in case I ever want to import to my phone directly, but I don't typically (or ever, really) need to do that.

For years I've desired something of the size and format of a Sony RX-100 series camera that embraced the computational photography intelligence of an excellent modern smartphone. In the meantime recently got a camera update to the Fujifilm X-T5 (from X-T3) and hoping the new smartphone app isn't the usual and typical dog poop.

My 1st attempt with the new app wasn't excellent, but it was ok. The onboarding was fairly smooth given the needed permissions. Using my phone to trigger a shot worked. Remote viewing and shooting had more lag than ideal but worked. Unsure if you can remotely set focus if you're in manual focus mode. Smartphone GPS data got embedded in RAW & JPG. Time will tell but this is much better than the previous app and an ok starting point and hope Fujifilm puts quality resources behind it.
