Journalism fails miserably at explaining what is really happening to America

Momentous week of GOP debate, Trump's arrest gets "horse race" coverage when the story's not about an election, but authoritarianism.

@JamesGleick The Republican Party is a private club. You have to pay yearly dues before you can attend even one meeting, and pay an extra fee if you want to be a delegate. The 1st two journalists to register get to be there free; any others must pay. A political party does not charge to attend meetings, charges no delegate fee, and at best might ask for a small donation to help cover a catered luncheon. #gop
